VA Vet Centers Serve Student Veterans

Are you a student veteran?

Student veterans may face unique challenges as they transition out of military life and into civilian life and an educational setting, especially those who are coming out of war zones. The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs has taken these challenges to heart and has worked to provide services and benefits to these veterans who have served their country with honor.

One of these services is the Vet Center. According to its website, “The goal of the Vet Center program is to provide a broad range of counseling, outreach, and referral services to eligible veterans in order to help them make a satisfying post-war readjustment to civilian life.”

The VA Vet Centers are truly there to help you. You can call 877-927-8387 to talk with a Vet Center Counselor 24 hours a day. You can also search for a Vet Center on the VA website. As of 2011, there are 300 Vet Centers located across the United States and its surrounding territories. Best of all, any service you receive from the Vet Center is completely confidential.

The services provided by the VA Vet Center are a military benefit earned by service. Veterans who served in war zones are eligible to take advantage of these services. The Vet Centers also provide services to qualifying veteran family members.

If you are not sure whether or not you qualify, please visit the Vet Center Eligibility page. The Vet Center also provides bereavement counseling and sexual trauma and harassment counseling to veterans and their family members. Visit the links above for more information about eligibility.
