The New Year is a time for new beginnings. I know it sounds clichéd, but if there was ever a time for you to have an excuse to put renewed energy into thinking about what you want in life and taking that step towards becoming the person you want to be… This is it.
As I write this, there are only 3 days left (well, 2 ½ to be exact) in the year 2011. I don’t know what kind of year it has been for you. I would think for most people, myself included, it was full of ups and downs. But guess what? Life is always going to be full of ups and downs. The difference is how you approach life and your attitude.
I found this quote about New Year’s that I thought was interesting. It’s from a man named Bill Vaughn, a real estate investor and author. He says, “An optimist stays up until midnight to see the New Year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.” I’m not sure I agree with him. I think you can look forward to putting the past behind you and making positive changes in the upcoming year.
So take a deep breath. Close your eyes. Wait, don’t close your eyes, you need to finish reading this first. Here comes the big question… What do you want?
Think about it for a bit. What do YOU want? What do you WANT? What…do…you…I’ll stop now.
If the answer pops into your head right away… great! I hope that you’ll spend 2012 going after what you want. If the answer doesn’t pop into your head right away, no worries. Sometimes people don’t know exactly what they want. They just know that something has to change. Let me tell you, I’ve heard multiple stories about students at Anthem Education schools who walked through our doors not knowing exactly what they wanted, but knowing that they needed a change for the better.
What about you? Is education something you want? More than that, do you want an education that prepares you for a career?
If you answered ‘yes’ or if you’re still unsure about what you want, but are wondering if education could be the next step for you, I hope you’ll join us for an Open House on January 18th. All Anthem Education campuses are participating and we’ve got 23 campuses across the U.S., so we’re not hard to find. If you’re worried that your schedule is too busy or you have too many other responsibilities, then consider Anthem College Online, which offers you even more flexibility.
If you can’t wait until January 18th and would like to learn more now, please call us at 1.866.381.6397. We’d love to talk to you about your options and answer any questions you may have.

In the meantime, I leave you with some words of wisdom for the New Year from the incomparable Charlie Brown:
“Keep the ball low, don’t leave your crayons in the sun, use dental floss every day, don’t spill the shoe polish, always knock before entering, don’t let the ants get in the sugar, never volunteer to be a program chairman, always get your first serve in, and feed your dog whenever he’s hungry.”
